So the news making the internet rounds is Marvel have whittled down the list of actors they want to fill Ant-Man’s tiny boots to two: Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Whilst JGL has blockbuster experience with Inception, superhero pedigree in The Dark Knight Rises, and the necessary comedy chops (as shown in pretty much every promotional appearance he’s given), Rudd is an untested property in the sort of tentpole event movies Marvel specialises in; sure, he’s had hits with Frat Pack comedies like Knocked Up and the cult classic Anchorman but he’s more likely to appear in smaller indie fare than in spandex ‘n’ masks action behemoths. That said, since establishing its Cinematic Universe, Marvel has never gone the obvious route with the casting its heroes; Robert Downey Jr, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson were all relative newbies to action movies before they claimed their respective roles, and even more recently, the casting of Chris Pratt in as Star-Lord Guardians Of The Galaxy was way out of leftfield.

So, let’s try a little poll: who should Marvel, and Edgar Wright, choose to become Hank Pym in 2015? Click here to vote!

It’s been an honour to play this part, to follow the legacy of brilliant actors, and helm the TARDIS for a spell with ‘the ginger, the nose and the impossible one’. But when ya gotta go, ya gotta go and Trenzalore calls. Thank you guys.
